The Waterpoint FAQ

Does my cooler need to be plumbed near a sink?

No, we use qualified technician's to plumb your cooler to your preferred location, we can normally site your cooler in exactly the same place as any existing coolers you have.

Can you come and so a site survey for me?

Absolutely. We're always more than happy to discuss your requirements. We'll come and have a look at your site and, taking onboard any thoughts you have, we'll suggest what we consider the most sensible way to install your cooler and give an idea of how long it would take.

How long does installation take?

Generally around an hour. Sometimes more sometimes less, it depends on where the machine is going. We can tell you better after the site survey.

How much does installation cost?

Installation is FREE, no matter how long it takes us or how far away from the water source we have to plumb it. Unlike other companies we won't charge you if the cooler is sited more than 10m from the water source.

Will there be major disruption while you do the work?

No. Our installation technician's always work as quietly and unobtrusively as possible, doing their best to be considerate to the staff and environment around them. Most installation's take around an hour, and we'll clean up everything for you when we leave.

How much do the filter's and sanitisation cost?

The cost of filter changes, maintenance and sanitisation is included in your monthly rental. We do this 6 monthly as standard. You don't need to call us out or remind us, we'll turn up unprompted when your service is due.

And what if one of my coolers breaks down between services?

You pick up the phone or email us to let us know and we come and fix by the end of the next working day at no cost. And if we cant fix it we'll replace it. Again at no cost.

How much can I save with a plumbed cooler?

Well it generally depends how much water you used with your bottled cooler. Based on a couple of bottles a week you'd normally half your bill. The more bottled water you use, the more money you can save by changing to a plumbed cooler. In the past we've managed to cut customer's bills by as much as 90%.

But isn't it just tap water you're giving us?

No! ..and don't start us on this subject. Read our leaflet here( link to 'about your new' document). In short we use top quality .9 micron filtration which removes all manner of things from the mains water leaving you with beautiful, pure, clear water.. The filter performance is measured and certified by various water bodies, more information is here (link to Doulton) we use the Doulton supercarb filter in all our machines.

Do we need to take a long term contract?

No. We don't believe in tying our customers to long term contracts. If our service or our coolers aren't up to scratch at any point and we don't fix the problem straight away then you're absolutely free to walk away. We don't want you to stay with us because you have to, we want you to stay with us because we're doing a great job for you.

What happens if my machine runs out of water?

Well the beauty of your cooler being plumbed in is that it should never 'run out' - as soon as you take water from it, it simply refills. Machines will stop occasionally however, and this can be for a number of reasons.

Most likely is that your filter is beginning to slow down, in which case you pick up the phone to us and we come and replace it.

Second there could be a airlock in the system somewhere, again you pick up the phone and we come and reset it. Simple.

Third, someone has been mucking about with your machine, or the plumbing and they've unknowingly cut off the supply. Again you pick up the phone to us, we come and check the machine over, reconnect the supply and slap the offender round the head a bit. No charge!

Tell us a bit more about the environmental benefits.

Now you're talking. We've got a whole section on this but in short bottled water coolers need bottles. Big round plastic bottles. And lots of them. Around 3 million tons of plastic at the last count and as we're sure you already know to make plastic you need.. oil, and for those of you living on the moon, oil is becoming more scarce.. you also need delivey trucks which again use oil. We've sure you've seen the trucks everywhere, probably with a cartoon picture of a polar bear or a penguin or some other cartoon animal looking 'cool' with sunglasses on, somewhat ironic that the very same truck is actually helping destroy that animal's habitat.. but anyway, we're off on a tangent. So to summarise no bottles means no plastics and no deliveries = around 30 million tonnes less of CO2 emissions each year. Add to this that at the waterpoint we are carbon footprint approved and, as a company, carbon positive and you can see where the difference lies.
